Just INCREDIBLE views and the breakfasts were definitely large portions. I was surprised by the basket of muffins! That was definitely a nice touch, but we were too stuffed to finish them on the spot. Service was great, and despite coming in at 11 o'clock on a Sunday, we were able to get a seat right away for dining inside. I think the wait was quoted around 30 minutes if you wanted outdoor seating, but honestly, there's a wall of windows so you don't miss the view from wherever you're sitting.
This was a great place when we decided to talk a walk on the pier. It was chilly and windy, but the food was sure good. The fish sticks were superior and we'd stop again the next time we'd drive by. But, we're trying all the piers along the Pacific Ocean.
I haven't been here in years. I have memories coming as a kid and eating and playing in the beach. We went at the random time of 3pm on a stay and we were sat right away at the best seat in the house! The corner table on the patio. The sourdough rolls came out right away with my margarita. Both were amazing. I had the sea bass piccata bc I'm a sucker for capers. The fish was hearty and well cooked. The sauce and pasta were awesome. The shish taco had a great grilled flavor and sauce. To top it off the waiter was awesome. I love it when it seems like they are trading your mind. He was on top of it. And you cannot beat the view or ambiance of being on the pier on a sunny, summer day.
We took the MetroLink down to San Clemente Pier on a weekend (the weekend day pass is $10--what a great deal!) and dined at The Fisherman's Restaurant & Bar. To be honest, we didn't expect much and thought it would probably be mediocre and overpriced since it's right by the pier. We were pleasantly surprised by the great service, delicious food, and gorgeous view. The price point wasn't horrendous either. We would definitely go back if we're in the area again.
My husband wanted to eat on the water. This was it! We sat outside on the patio, with our two grandsons (5&7) for breakfast. The view was amazing. We could see the water breaking under the pier. Service was friendly. I forgot to order a side of bacon and the waitress was accommodating and brought it out right away. Food was delicious. I had the soft-shell crab benedict. The boys had blueberry waffle and a waffle. My husband ordered bagels and lox. He only was able to eat half of it because our grandson wanted to eat it. He did get to have some of the blueberry waffle, which he said was excellent.
Food 4/5 Customer Service 4/5 Wait Times 3/5 Beachfront Views 5/5 Restroom 2/5 (*separate from the Restaurant, outside across the pier*) Wow. We were seated outside on the patio and had beautiful views of the beach and the pier at sunset. Amazing sunset views and ambience on the patio! Our foods were served hot, fresh, moist, and soooo delicious. We ordered: Clam Chowder, Fish & Chips, and the Roasted Sunrise Chicken dinner entrees. The wait times and service were either slow or just okay, since it was a little busy rush for dinner service. However, if you need to use the restroom, there are NO restrooms on the Restaurant side, so you have to walk over across the pier into the oyster Bar side of the establishment and use the restroom there, the staff instructed us to do so. The restrooms were filthy, smelly, and lacked soap and toilet paper. Otherwise, the menu selection, foods, and beachfront views are really good and worth the wait at sunset time. Fresh seafood dining on the beach pier...
Food: food was delicious but the menu fell short of our expectations. For example, for appetizers we were interested in calamari or ceviche but it was not an option while those options are typically available for seafood restaurants. Service: great. Our server was friendly and attentive. Ambiance: a pleasant location on the pier with indoor and outdoor seating. It may be small for larger parties.
